There’s a point in The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy’s dog Toto reveals that the wizard is not a wizard. I like the scene because it reminds me that it takes more than a wizard to produce a film, even a short one like Dark As Night. Filmmaking is a collaborative art.
We started shooting our first scene on June 28, 2015 and finished the final scene the first week in November. There were breaks between shooting…some due to weather, some related to actor or location availability, or a few times scenes needed to be shot again. Then there are holidays and paying gigs that create delays.
Once we wrapped, it was time to start post production. Titles, and special effects had to be created, and a host of other tasks had to be accomplished, which all take time.
For those of you who are following our progress to the big screen, we’re still working and if all goes well, we want to release Dark As Night before the end of the year.
